The charter of MOSSCS is to provide an opportunity to exchange ideas and research results pertaining to the organic solid state in an informal atmosphere, with an emphasis on oral presentations by graduate students, undergraduate students, and postdoctoral associates.

Reports of research on organic materials dealing with crystal engineering, mixed crystals, polymorphism, solid-state synthesis and reactivity, host-guest chemistry, crystal growth, optical behavior, transport properties, mechanical properties, pharmaceutics, molecular recognition, critical behavior, and related properties are commonly presented at the MOSSCS.
